Im not sure if I can do Tours with Tong justice in just a few short sentences. From the moment we were picked up at 7am till we were dropped off at 3pm, Tong was the most caring and fun guide we could have asked for. All our needs were catered for, right down to cold towels to beat the heat after each activity to keeping the kids entertained with the DVD on the way home. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Feb 2010, we spent two marvelous days in Bangkok with Tong. We have traveled all over the world and have been fortunate to have found some wonderful private guides. I remember all of them fondly; but Tong is quite special. She stands out as the guide with whom we had the most fun we have ever had on a tour, by far. I had booked her tour fifteen months early, so I would able to get Tong herself to be our personal guide. I am so glad we did. Tong picked up our group of eight cruisers just outside the Bangkok cruise terminal. From the moment she greeted us with her bubbly personality, we knew we had made the right choice. Some of the other people on our cruise had also booked with Tong, and they were thrilled with the guides she provided for them also. Additionally, Tongs van was just awesome. It was large and roomy with very comfortable seats. It was a very plush van, and was even equipped with strobe lights. While driving to different sites, Tong entertained us with jokes, songs and lots of information about what we would be seeing. For most of the two days, she would be leaning over the front seat doing everything she could to make it a great tour. She succeeded. We just loved listening to her talk; and her infectious laugh kept us laughing most of the two days. Tong had been very helpful in arranging our itinerary. Before arriving in Bangkok, my main desire was to see lots of temples and other beautiful structures. Since we didn't arrive at the dock until 2:00 PM on our first day, I was concerned that we wouldnt get to see much of Bangkok. However, that first half day we toured the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Reclining Buddha; which were just unbelievably beautiful. We also were able to do a relaxing canal tour that passed by Wat Arun, the Temple of the Dawn. I still cant believe that we were able to see so much in a half day. Tong had the situation well in hand, and her driver was very good. He was able to avoid most of the traffic congestion. Prior to our cruise, when Tong and I had exchanged emails, she kept trying to persuade me to go to the famous Floating Market and the lesser known Train Market on our second day. She knew that after the wonderful sites we would see on our first day, we would be "templed" out. I am so glad that Tong convinced me to visit the markets rather than see more temples. It is a once in a lifetime experience, especially when going with Tong. These markets are so unique and so much fun, that they should not be missed. Tong provided us with a very comprehensive itinerary, a lot of information about what we were going to see and just a very fun experience. She is an outstanding tour guide, and we highly recommend her if you ever go to Bangkok. She is the best! We have a cruise review website that includes many photos from the wonderful tour of Bangkok that Tong provided. It is located at www.thepreismans.com Mike Preisman and Party. |
